The first fleet that came to establish the penal colonies in 1788 brought vines. Over the next 50 years, European settlers brought greater skills to growing and making wine. Thanks to strict quarantines, phylloxera never made it to Australia so they have vines as old as 150 years. These are the stories of some of the people who continue the tradition of viticulture and wine today.
