Universal State of Thrive
Reflection No. 27
Being healthy is good. It suggests that things are going well, in balance, nourishing even. But would it not be even better to thrive? When we thrive we experience something more vigorous and flourishing. This seems so much more fun than basic good health. I want to be more than healthy; I want to thrive!
Attaining an ongoing state of thriving probably requires all the life around us to thrive too. That means giving the same consideration to the environment that we seek for ourselves. Like farmers, we should nurture nature so it can flourish and provide us with nutrient-rich food and shelter. Our survival depends on a sustainable ecosystem to manifest a universal state of thrive. It sounds like Utopia, but surely we can achieve it if we are mindful and try.
Being conscious, thinking past our immediate needs, is the key. This is why practices like yoga are an excellent remedy. Yoga creates healthy bodies, but it also requires us to reflect inward and consider each position—how it feels, what adjustment would make it stronger and more stable. That inner sensitivity applied outward could allow all of life to thrive.
Conservation International produced this video called Mother Nature, which puts the value of a universal state of thrive into perfect perspective...
